Calling all CrossFitters! Tells us: how has your body changed on CrossFit? Some guys get stronger and look bigger while actually getting lighter. Some women loose inches and get visibly thinner while the scale says more. Weighing more or less -- the scale can be the great deceiver as your times improve and you begin to inherit those desirable appearance side-effects. But blah blah blah, we'll stop putting words in your mouth. What has been your result?

Well, every time I go home or see someone I haven't seen in a while, I usually get comments about how much bigger I've gotten. Old shirts are really tight in the arms, chest, and shoulders, and pants buying is an adventure. It's kinda tough to buy business clothes when your thighs are bigger than your waist. I really like what CF has done for me in terms of appearance. Although it's kind of ironic...now that I look better than ever, I don't really care about how I look! I am thicker in the middle than I'd like to be...I blame myself for that one. No amount of metcon or lifting is gonna make up for crappy eating!
And I have to say that the people I see at CF regularly are looking better all the time. I hope other people respond to this.
I echo Joe's comment about people who have not seen me in a while mention that I look a lot different; but always better. They say I look thinner in the face... guess I had a fat head. I have had a couple comments that I am losing too much weight, but I am working on that.
The pants are definitely looser, and belts are on their last hole. Shirts fit much better and tighter.
If I did not feel I was improving, I would not still be here. Love the changes.
I'm calling Luke out. I've been away and when I came back, it seems as though someone stuck a bike pump to his upper body.
Even though I have a long way to go, I absolutely know that I am stronger and can handle the workouts easier and more efficiently. Although I don't really see the physical changes, everyone at work comments about it. My clothes fit better, I have more energy throughout the week, and I sleep better at night. These are all strong positives in my life--plus, I love how everyone at CF CLE is so nice and positive. There are no jerks in the bunch--how many gyms can you say that about?
I started Crossfit a little over 3 months ago.
I had some pain in my knees and a groin injury but those seem to have gone away for the most part.
I noticed that life in general is easier now. Simple things like going up/down stairs, sitting on a chair and standing up, and even just walking to school feel like they take much less effort.
My weight has stayed about the same but that doesn't really bother me too much anymore now that I'm more concerned with improving my performance.
The biggest change for me has been confidence. I use to dread going to client meetings. I would make myself sick prejudging “me” before we even got there. “Can you believe how much weight she’s gained? She is so FAT! What a pig!” Now I sit there and think, “ha, you make look thin, but I bet you can’t do an OHS at 80lbs.” I may not be a size 5 but I feel great compared to how I felt before starting Crossfit. Not to mention how great our CF community is. I totally love everybody that I am lucky enough to train with.
Been a closet-Crossfitter for about 10 months. I've only been to CF Cle once, but it kicked my butt so much that I decided to give it a whirl for the most part (I also did a few weeks of P90X and I do some 'regular' lifting now and again, too).
Anyway, zero weight change. However, I'm almost 2 belt holes thinner somehow. As a bonus I played the annual "Turkey Bowl" tackle football game Thanksgiving morning and for once I was the least winded of the group instead of the one doubled-over all game.
I didn't believe the 20 min workouts were legit when I started and thought they weren't going to work. But I've gained about 25lb over two years while somehow losing 2" on my waist, all while getting faster and stronger.
I am so glad to read what you wrote about getting thinner but weighing more! I was getting mad at the scales!
I am a lot stronger and have lots more stamina than when I started. I have learned a lot of technique and see definite changes in my body and strength although I too need to get more disciplined with my diet and shed body fat which will help me perform and look better. I intend to do that this year.
Crossfit rocks.
