April 24 WOD

Originally, I didn't write anything, just posting the WOD. Then, I saw this post on Yahoo about Kyle Maynard, a CrossFitter featured in many of the national videos online. Just seeing his name forces me to evaluate what I take for granted. Damn...

Hero Workouts. They're not fun. Usually, they're the baddest of the bad; the upper echelon of ass-kickin' workouts. Named after CrossFitters who gave their life in service of city, state, and country; there is just something "more" about a Hero WOD. This week, I was reminded the hard way, while yanking around 155-pounds during "D.T." I wanted to give-up. In fact, I stopped in the fourth round. My back and traps were trying to rip out my skin, making breathing an afterthought. "NO, YOU DON'T! Get back on the bar!" My training buddy, Mr. Mile-Of-Burpees, Charlie Dunifer, growled at me, "There's more to a Hero WOD than you." I hopped my punk-ass back on the bar and finished the WOD [collapsing immediately].

You shouldn't need outside motivation to push yourself through a workout. But, one day, you will. When you do, think about a hero and HARDEN THE F*** UP!

I know I'm a big baby, but.....that's not always the case. I think the outside motivation is one of Crossfit Cle's strongest selling points. I have a complete gym in my home, but I would much rather make the 70 mile round trip journey to Crossfit, than walk upstairs and work out by myself. I know that no matter how crappy/tired I feel, that when I see Travis, Eric, Ian, Larry, Jackie, Norah, Rebecca and everybody else I can't remember right now, I'm going to have a great work out because of all the support that's there if I need it. Crossfit people are just as awesome as all of the Hero/Nasty Girl work outs!! Okay, I'm done being sappy now.

That's what makes CF so awesome. Like minded lunatics suffering together makes for vastly superior results.
